L.D. Ricard is my Woman In Horror today! She is a most interesting lady. Her writing style is unique, and she spins a great tale. I love how she is able to incorporate non-fiction into her fiction. I enjoy this because I do it with everything I write. In some way or another.

Becca Boucher and I had the pleasure of editing Rowan's End, her first novel. This will have a sequel, so get ready for it!

Book Description
Publication Date: November 12, 2014
Lexy and her mother, Laine, were used to living a gypsy lifestyle. Lexy's father always had them on the move. 20 years earlier he'd gone on the run from his family, but Laine never knew why. When he is mysteriously murdered, their world turns upside down. Thrust into a world of the unbelievably fantastic and at the same time horrifying, they must learn where the legends end and the lies begin, and help Lexi reclaim a family legacy, one that her father left her unprepared to fight for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and refreshing battle January 27, 2015

In the beginning of this story, I truly wondered what I had started. With weird characters and items showing up at opportune moments, it makes one wonder what can actually be happening in our world today.
This story concentrates on Laine and Lexy, a mother-daughter duo surviving the death of Lexy's father; Laine's husband. Strange events bring them to an old family home, where history unfolds, mysterious events are solved, relationships are formed, and a battle between good and evil ensues.
LD Ricard has written a great book from a refreshing point of view, with a different take on magic, ghosts and witchery. I can't wait to read what happens next

The Full Wolf Moon by LD Ricard ~ As suggested by the title this one is a werewolf story. The life mate concept is mentioned in this story as is the pack concept. Again, yes I enjoyed it, but I wanted to read more and more. So LD Ricard is firmly on my authors to watch out for list. It's 5/5
This reader wrote a lengthy review for this great anthology. I have only included L.D.'s here.

Dark Light is an amazing gathering of short stories that will haunt your mind and dreams. Each story that is in the book is amazing by itself. All the authors have wicked fun imaginations and take you to times and places all over the world and planes of existence you'll never forget. I love each story and would love to see more come from each author because they draw you in and take you away and leave you breathless wanting more. And bravo to Crushing Hearts & Black Butterfly for compiling this absolutely amazing collection of stories that compliment each other and this awesome publishing company.

Great collection!! I really enjoyed reading it. It's a very diverse anthology-- everything from very very short to practically a novella, light and creepy to very scary! Perfect to read a bit at a time in your spare time. I really liked the Russian one

Another great anthology that L.D. is in!
Now I give you an interview between L.D and Fiona Mcvie:…/my-interview-wit…/
Name Laurie Ricard, though I write as L.D. Ricard
Age 40ish
Where are you from Originally Pennsylvania but I Live in Florida now
A little about your self `ie your education Family life ect
I have a Son and Daughter. My Daughter lives in Pennsylvania. My Son lives across the road. I live with my hubby and our bed hogging dog Wicca
Fiona: Tell us your latest news?
I have two short stories coming out in February in an Antho called Dark Light 2. I have one short in the first Dark Light and another in an Antho called Ghostly Reflections which I did the cover for as well.
Fiona: When and why did you begin writing?
I started writing last year just to see if I could. I read all the time, so I figured why not? Now I’m hooked.
Fiona: When did you first consider yourself a writer?
When my first story was published and I actually got to hold the book in my hands. It was a rush!
Fiona: What inspired you to write your first book?
Doing the cover for Ghostly Reflections. The book is based on true ghost stories and I had several to submit.
Fiona: Do you have a specific writing style?
I’m too new to really have a certain style yet, but everyone that,s read my work says it flows and is easy to follow.
Fiona: How did you come up with the title?
Again the cover. I was messing with cover ideas and the name Rowans End popped in my head and stayed
Fiona: Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
I guess to not always doubt what seems to be unbelievable.
Fiona: How much of the book is realistic?
Maybe about 25%. The rest is from my on warped imagination.
Fiona: Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Not in this one…I’d be in jail!
Fiona: What books have most influenced your life most?
That’s a hard one. I read everything I get my hands on. I guess anything by Roberts, Koontz, King and Saul
Fiona: If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Nora Roberts. It’s fun going back to her first books and what how she grows over the years.
Fiona: What book are you reading now?
Criminal by Karin Slaughter
Fiona: Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
David Rosenfelt. He’s not really new, but I’ve just stumbled over him.
Fiona: What are your current projects?
Getting Rowans End done and another short for Halloween
Fiona: Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.
This easy Facebook! My friends there really encourage me.
Fiona: Do you see writing as a career?
I’m hoping it turns out that way.
Fiona: If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
Not so far. We’ll see in the final edit. Lol
Fiona: Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
My friends kept urging me to try and I thought why not. Turns out I can write.
Fiona: Can you share a little of your current work with us?
It’s about a widow and her daughter who find out they’ve been living a lie after her husband dies.
Fiona: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Keeping everyone straight. It sounds crazy, but a lot of times I have to go back and remind myself what they said or did.
Fiona: Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
Again Nora Roberts. She has so much versatility in her work. Whether writing under her name or under J.D. Robb
Fiona: Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?
Not yet thankfully. I hate to fly!
Fiona: Who designed the covers?
So far me. Except for Dark Light that was done by Para Graphic Designs
Fiona: What was the hardest part of writing your book?
I’m only half way through so far, so at this point all of it! Lol
Fiona: Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
You can do anything you set your mind to no matter your age!
Fiona: Do you have any advice for other writers?
Don’t give up. No matter how stuck you get keep trying and always have a pen and paper close by. You never know when inspiration will strike.
Fiona: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I just hope you enjoy a good (I hope) thriller
Fiona: If you were not a writer what else would you like to have done ?
Back to doing covers and training dogs
Fiona: Do you have a website/blog if so what is it?
Not yet but hope to soon.

Let me mention that Fiona is always looking for authors for her interviews. She is very kind to do this and has I don't know how many thousand interviews now. Remarkable. She asked L.D. the right questions and I think we all got to know the personal side of her as well her writing side.
So, my friends, L.D. writes great horror. I guarantee that you will love her books. As I always say, check out the free sample sections on Amazon. If you're not drawn into Rowan's End after reading the prologue, you don't like horror.
