MARKETING 101 - SATURDAY TIP

This is another one of my wildly popular Marketing 101 tips. Okay, maybe not that popular, but I like them. The publishing business changes from day to day and we have to adjust constantly. But, some things are steadfast constants. My tip today is one of those.

What would you suppose is the easiest way to market? I see folks are reluctant to raise their hands, so I'll cut to the chase. Promote other authors. Yes, I've mentioned it before, but it's truer today than it ever was. If you talk about other authors, people will think you're a genuine person and not a blowhard buy my book idiot. The key to this is to genuinely like the authors you talk about and their books. If you don't, you're not coming across as being honest.

Armand Rosamilia is an author who practices this well. He talks about everyone. I've met some fascinating people because of his posts http://armandrosamilia.com/. Rebecca Treadway, via her daily Paper.li posts http://paper.li/CreepyWalker?edition_id=21a1c100-63fe-11e5-85c9-0cc47a0d1605&utm_campaign=paper_sub&utm_medium=email&utm_source=subscription, spreads the word about the whole world of authors, movies, environmental issues, and much more. William Cook has some fantastic articles about people on his website http://www.williamcookwriter.com/. Are you getting the picture? By not beating your own drum you are gaining positive recognition. Very cool. I'll take a good dose of that every day.

Join my friends above and spread the word. You'll be glad you did.
